Ted Kalo brings 25 years of policy and political experience to Shape Advocacy.
Before co-founding Shape, Ted was the Chief Operating Officer of LMG, Inc., guiding the firm’s work with Fortune 50 companies, trade associations, and non-profits.
Before joining LMG, Ted served as General Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee, leading political and policy negotiations that resulted in landmark legislation and directing the Committee’s communications. While managing the Committee's staff of 40 lawyers, he negotiated a major overhaul of the patent laws, a reauthorization of the Satellite Home Viewer Act, updates to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the USA PATRIOT Act and its subsequent reauthorizations, and dozens of additional pieces of legislation.
Ted served as Executive Director of the musicFIRST Coalition from 2011-2016, leading the successful campaign to stop the Internet Radio Fairness Act and spearheading the introduction of the Fair Play Fair Pay Act supported by unprecedented grassroots mobilization. He served as the Executive Director of the Artist Rights Alliance from 2018-2021, a non-profit, artist-run advocacy organization, and was a driving force in the passage of the Music Modernization Act of 2018.
SAM SOKOL
Founding Partner
Sam Sokol has worked in DC legal, political, and communications circles for the past 20 years, including half a decade as a top investigator for House Judiciary Committee Democrats and 7 years as a litigator at Wilmer, Cutler, & Pickering and its successor WilmerHale. In addition to leading House investigations into controversies like the Bush Administration's firing of US Attorneys, torture, and post-9/11 surveillance, Sam worked on copyright, antitrust, civil rights, and crime legislation including serving as lead House negotiator on a major overhaul of the Indian Country criminal justice system.
After leaving the Hill, Sam joined LMG, Inc. as Senior Vice President leading public affairs and issue advocacy campaigns in the copyright, tech, telecom, and aerospace and defense industries.
Sam is a Los Angeles native who attended the University of Pennsylvania and the UCLA School of Law. He clerked for federal judges in the Central District of California and at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and was a White House legal intern under Charles Ruff in the fall of 1997.

CASEY MURRAY
Partner

Casey Murray is a versatile campaign, communications, and public affairs professional with expertise in public policy and grassroots mobilization.
Casey spent several years working in Arizona politics where she served as Regional Political Director for Arizona List, helping craft strategy and execute grassroots engagement, digital advocacy, and crisis communications for over a dozen Democratic women-led campaigns. Before that, she managed several political and issue advocacy campaigns in Arizona, working on the front lines of grassroots outreach, messaging and persuasion, and voter engagement.
Prior to joining Shape, Casey was on the communications team at LMG, Inc., executing public affairs and issue advocacy campaigns on copyright, tech policy, and voter mobilization. In this position, she led major research, digital advocacy, and graphic design efforts for Fortune 50 corporate clients and pitched local, regional, and national press.
Casey is a George Washington University alum, where she earned a Master's degree in Public Policy and Gender Studies.
ANDREA KLORES
Creative Director
With over 25 years’ experience in creative design and visual advocacy, Andrea Klores leads Shape’s digital and graphic work – from campaign “look and feel” to websites, infographics, and print and online ads.
Andrea is a professionally trained designer skilled at translating complex messaging and data-based arguments into compelling, persuasive visuals. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Moore College of Art and Design with experience designing marketing and campaign materials for some of the most significant companies in the world, including Sony, DirecTV, Time Life, GlaxoSmithKline, ManTech, and Huntington Ingalls Industries. Andrea comes to Shape after nearly twenty years of freelance work as well as past stints at Qorvis MSLGroup and the American Society of Landscape Architects.
Significant prior projects include designing packaging, branding, and insert materials for a range of recorded music, Broadway productions, and film and television shows, developing digital campaign tools including microsites and online infographics, and creating and executing all visual aspects of modern advocacy campaigns including logos and trade dress, online banner ads and splash pages, and direct mail pieces and hard copy brochures. Andrea is also a skilled copywriter and communicator with a practiced ear for consumer-facing language, arguments, and presentation.
